A report by Canada’s primary intelligence agency warns in stark language that Russia is “retooling its military for a fight” and appears to be “mobilizing for war”. The classified report was accessed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), the country’s state-owned broadcaster. According to the CBC, the document was produced by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), Canada’s primary national intelligence service. It is titled 2018 Security Outlook and is described by the CBC as a “distillation” of information from open sources and publicly available academic research, without input from internal CSIS assessments.

Erdogan pulls out of Muhammad Ali funeral after snubs
Turkish president was reportedly denied opportunity to place piece of cloth from Kaaba on Ali's coffin
Controversy broke out in the run-up to the funeral of boxing legend Muhammad Ali when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pulled out after being denied an opportunity to speak.
Tens of thousands of people were anticipating the funeral procession of the former heavyweight champion through his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, while free tickets for the 18,000-person funeral service at the city's KFC Yum! Centre were quickly snapped up.
The funeral cavalcade was to begin at 9am local time and take the coffin past his childhood home, the Ali Center, the Center for African American Heritage and then down Muhammad Ali Boulevard.
Numerous celebrities and political figures were set to attend, including comedian Billy Crystal, singer-songwriter Yusuf Islam, actor Will Smith and former President Bill Clinton, who was to deliver a eulogy.
Erdogan had initially been pushing to speak at Ali’s funeral service, and did attend an Islamic prayer service held on Thursday.

EU Commission backs visa- free travel deal with Turkey
[ Editor’s Note: The EU commission seems to be fast-tracking the visa program for Turkey. Anyone familiar with government red tape in that region of the world knows there is no way all of the required issues are being resolved quickly.
Turkey is getting a waive-through on them, but that still leaves the independent EU countries to throw a monkey wrench into final passage.
When the EU cannot even process refugees, one wonders how they are going to keep track of the millions of Turkish refugees who will now flood into Europe. Where will the resources come from and who will pay for them, and where will all the Turkish translators come from?
This is going to add another big mess on top of the several that the EU already has. And millions of Ukrainians are waiting like a coiled spring to get out of the self-inflicted suicide of that country, which includes a lot of the criminal gangs looking to move on to richer pastures.
